Sounds like a great trip. If you wander up that way again, you might consider going through Idaho just west of the Tetons, great views of the back side of the mountains and lots less traffic. Also you might want to ride out of the north entrance of the park, Mammoth Hot Springs, about 60 miles to the town of Livingston, Montana. Great town, about 6000 people, and a great ride down the Yellowstone River valley. I used to live there and wish I could move back. The weekend trips through Yellowstone were great, especially on nice fall days in September when there were very few people on the roads.

Another nice ride is out of the west entrance, West Yellowstone, and down to Bozeman, Montana. Great ride alone the Gallatin River. Bozeman is a nice town to visit (especially if you're a skier) but I wouldn't want to live there again. Or you can go from West Yellowstone down the Madison River to the town of Ennis, Montana. Another great ride and you get to see Quake Lake, created in the earthquake of 1959. If you go there in the spring and camp in the forest service campgrounds, don't be surprised if you wake up with a herd of elk around you. They love to bed down in the campgrounds when there aren't many people.

Hope you enjoy your Sunday rides down to Vernal and back. I used to when I lived in Green River.

Have fun and ride all you can before the snow flies.
